The textual structure of the libretto is based on repetition. The audience will be taken through nine different versions of the legend of Artemis bathing with her nymphs. Each version will have a different narrative style, a different interpretation, point of view and meaning and will raise different questions. The many gods of that age appear and disappear throughout the works, constantly changing their shape and appearance. The frequency of these fleeting glimpses means that the audience can never be sure which god is present and afterwards cannot remember which is which. It is this constant repetition which provides an overall impression of the manifestation of deity to man. And it is this repetition which today will get to the heart of the manifestation of Artemis to Actaeon, both from his point of view and from hers. We need a wide range of views and descriptions, so that there can be many interpretations and meanings. Therefore we have not set any constraints - it is up to the author to choose his or her own interpretation of the myth and the point of view from which it is to be told. Nine french authors have been invited to write their own version of the myth and to develop their own explanation for the vision on which the myth is based. These authors are: Jean Baudrillard, Jean-Paul Curnier, Bernard Noël, Surya, Julien Blaine, André-Pierre Arnal, Henri-Pierre Jeudi, Marcel Moreau, Francis Marmande, Jean-Loup Pivin.
