OSC-K is an outdoor installation from the series OSC, commissioned by ZKM for Seasons of Media Arts 2020 (curators: Peter Weibel and Philipp Ziegler).
This audiovisual light sculpture presented on the lakeside of the Günther-Klotz-Anlage consists of a large-format screen on which bright colors and flickering effects alternate. Especially in the twilight, the pulsating images, rhythmically attuned to the frequency of breath and heartbeat, create a glittering play of light. The light reflections are mirrored on the surface of the lake, visually inscribing the work into its surroundings. Walking along the shore of the lake, visitors hear a variety of sounds from the loudspeakers installed there that intensify the immersive effect of the work. As you walk along the lake, you will perceive the different acoustic ambiences of the work. The integration of artificial and technological spaces into natural environments blurs the boundaries between artificial and real space. At the same time, the artificial aesthetics and media effects of the work dissolve this connection. © Ulf Langheinrich, 2020 |
